Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 27 Sep, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how HabitCal ("we", "our", or "us") handles your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Your Habit Data Stays on Your Device

Everything you enter in HabitCal - habits, logs, streaks, notes, and reminders - is stored locally on your device. We do not operate any server that receives or stores this data, and we cannot see it.

2. Optional Cloud Backup

HabitCal offers an optional backup feature. If you turn it on and sign in with your Google account (Android) or use your device's iCloud account (iOS), a copy of your habit data is saved directly to a private, app-only folder in your own Google Drive or iCloud - never to a server we operate. On Android, this uses Google Drive's restricted "app data" scope, meaning the backup file is not visible in your regular Drive and no other app (including ours, if you revoke access) can read it. You can turn this off, sign out, or delete the backup at any time from within the app.

3. Manual Export and Import

HabitCal also lets you manually export your habit data to a file you choose to save or share, and import it back later. This is entirely user-initiated: the file goes wherever you choose to save it (your device's own storage or a share destination you pick), and we never receive a copy of it.

4. Notifications

If you enable reminders, HabitCal schedules local notifications on your device for the times you choose. These are handled entirely by your device's operating system and are not routed through any server of ours.

5. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We use Firebase (a Google service) to understand app performance and diagnose crashes, and Firebase Remote Config to manage app behavior. This starts automatically when you open the app and is not currently something you can turn off from within HabitCal itself. It can include non-personal information such as device type, operating system version, app version, screens viewed, and anonymized usage and crash data. This information is not linked to your habit data and is used only to understand app performance and improve the app.

6. In-App Purchases

HabitCal Pro is sold as an in-app purchase, processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play. To manage entitlements (confirming what you've purchased and restoring purchases on a new device), we use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service. RevenueCat receives purchase/subscription information and an anonymous app-installation identifier from the store - it does not receive your name, email, or payment details, which stay with Apple/Google. See RevenueCat's own privacy policy for details.

7. Deleting Your Data

Settings' "Reset All Data" permanently deletes your habits, logs, and reminders from your device. Because HabitCal has no account system, this is the only "delete my data" action there is - but it's worth being precise about its scope: it clears local data only. It does not delete a cloud backup file you've already uploaded to your own Google Drive or iCloud (remove that from your cloud storage directly, or use the in-app "delete backup" option first), and it can't retroactively remove analytics or crash reports already sent to Firebase before you reset. Uninstalling the app removes all local data as well.

8. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect or require:

9. Third-Party Services

HabitCal uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

10. No Advertising

HabitCal does not show ads and does not use any advertising or ad-tracking SDKs. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for cross-app or cross-site tracking.

11. International Data Transfers

The third-party services above (Google/Firebase, Apple, RevenueCat) may process data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Each operates under its own privacy policy and safeguards - see the links above for details.

12. Data Security

Your habit data lives on your device and, if you opt in, in a private folder in your own cloud account - protected by your own device passcode and account security. We take reasonable measures to keep the app itself secure, but no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

13. Children's Privacy

HabitCal is not directed at young children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll address it.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
